Maurits Kaptein is co-founder and CTO of Kyvvu, a Dutch startup that builds an Agent Security Kernel: software that runs inside an AI agent and checks every action the agent takes against the organisation’s own policies before that action executes. He is also full professor of Applied Causal Inference at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), where he earned his PhD after spending two years at Stanford University. Before TU/e he was a postdoc at Aalto University, assistant professor of AI at Radboud University, and associate and later full professor of statistics at Tilburg University. His 100+ publications cover statistical learning, causal inference and AI systems, and he is author of the Springer textbook Statistics for Data Scientists and co-author, with Joris Janssen, of AI Agents at Work. Kyvvu is his third company, after Science Rockstars and the edge-AI company Scailable, which was acquired by Network Optix.
