Claire Thompson is an ambassador for Women in Data UK and was recognised last year by DataIQ as one of the 100 most influential people in data and analytics within the UK. At the end of last year, she was also selected for “Twenty in Data & Technology”, as an inspiring role model to others within the industry and to future generations.
She is currently Head of Data and Analytics at RBS, supporting the Commercial and Private Banking sector. She is accountable for leading a multi-disciplinary team of around 230 data practitioners who put data at the heart of helping the bank and its customers achieve their ambitions. This means analysing customers across all channels with teams focused on key areas such as Data Science, Digital & Decisioning, Product Analysis, Capital Management, Agile Application development, Data Governance and Performance Insights.
Whilst at RBS, some of her key accomplishments include the successful delivery of an AI decisioning engine, the design and execution of a digital data strategy and the implementation of a variety of projects. The result of which have led to increased efficiency, enhanced decision making and improved customer experiences.
Prior to joining RBS, Claire worked at Barclays within the Retail and Business Banking sector as the Strategy & Planning Director. Here, she had accountability for strategy definition and design for the branch network, contact centres, digital and mobile channels.
With a degree in applied statistics and over 20 years experience within financial services, she has a wealth of experience at a senior and strategic level, whilst thriving on using data to analyse and solve complex, multi-faceted problems.
