Dr. Kamran Khan is an infectious disease physician-epidemiologist and a Professor of Medicine and Public Health at the University of Toronto. Motivated by his experiences on the frontlines of the 2003 Toronto SARS outbreak, Dr. Khan has been studying outbreaks of emerging and re-emerging diseases for nearly two decades. To translate and disseminate scientific knowledge into timely action, Dr. Khan founded BlueDot in 2013, a big data analytics company that integrates human and artificial intelligence to help governments and global businesses build resilience and readiness to the growing number of disruptive outbreaks appearing in the world. Dr. Khan’s work during the COVID-19 pandemic has been featured in a number of forums including CBS’ 60 Minutes, CNN, and BBC World. Dr. Khan recently received a Governor General’s Award for his work transcending clinical medicine, public health, big data, and artificial intelligence.
