Presentation: Risk and Opportunity – Adventures in Enterprise Adoption of AI

Generative AI presents clear opportunities in productivity and other gains. But there are also well documented risks with adoption — especially from the perspective of a non-tech enterprise. How can you tell the difference? How do you navigate the delicate path between these risks and opportunities?

This presentation will cover effective strategies to measure and mitigate risks associated with Generative AI, including the use of red teaming, and evaluate its potential impact on business operations.

Here we will cover:

  • Forming a coherent enterprise-wide Generative AI policy
  • Determining proofs-of-concept to build trust within your organization
  • How to assess risk using techniques, such as red teaming, and other approval mechanisms
  • How to measure business impact of Generative AI applications

Presentation: The Privacy-Utility Trade off with Generative AI

The rapid rise of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) based on Large Language Models (LLMs), such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google Bard, promises substantial business benefits and risks.

In our recent survey, 70% of respondents are concerned about LLMs and 38% are aware of security breaches in their industry. Especially when sensitive data and intellectual property are involved, inputting prompts to the AI service in a way that is not secure raises serious concerns about trust, privacy, and compliance.

The risks of unsecured prompts are as multifaceted as the challenges and flaws of generative AI.

Presentation: RAG is easy… right? Considerations for building truly enterprise-ready RAG

Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) has emerged as a powerful capability to mitigate some of the challenges associated with generative AI (e.g., hallucinations, lack of up-to-date information, and lack of domain-specific knowledge). However, while the concept of RAG is straightforward, implementing and scaling it for an enterprise is more complex than organizations realize.

In this session, Jason draws on his first-hand experiences to detail the core requirements for building an enterprise-ready RAG solution, including critical architectural, data governance, and business considerations. He offers insight into how organizations can effectively deploy Enterprise RAG solutions and provides examples of successful applications.

Presentation: Secure by Design in the Era of Artificial Intelligence

We are in the era of AI-enabled software.

AI will continue to have phenomenal impacts on our society: improving medical systems, empowering small businesses, revolutionizing education, and driving our cars, just to name a few. However, software development, including AI development, must now be attached to the hip of a secure-by-design approach.

AI is a remarkable tool to do good, but we shouldn’t take out so much technical debt making new products that we harm our national interests, both public and private.

Software designs must mitigate known classes of vulnerabilities, enable swift recovery from inevitable breaches, and adapt to future evolutions in AI. Let’s choose to make responsible and reliable decisions to protect consumers of AI-enabled improvements.

Please join Cybersecurity Specialist Jonathan Spring of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency as he discusses CISA’s guidelines and resources to build rugged, adaptable cybersecurity into your software while surviving and thriving in a world where cyber adversaries are also using AI to build tools faster.
