Anjali Dewan is vice president, Global New Accounts Modeling, at American Express. She manages new accounts modeling for all American Express proprietary products globally helping bring new, valuable Card Members into the network. Anjali is a seasoned risk leader with a proven record of driving transformation, producing industry-leading credit risk models, and building high-performing teams. In her current role, Anjali is responsible for underwriting decision science across consumer and commercial portfolios for American Express globally. Anjali leads a team of data scientists across New York and Gurgaon to drive cutting-edge underwriting solutions. Anjali has driven multiple strategic initiatives which have driven profile growth with best-in-class loss rates. Her many contributions include driving global transformation of underwriting models to machine learning and strengthening data science capabilities for card portfolios across the globe. During her 15+ years at American Express in the United States and India, Anjali has held multiple positions with increasing responsibility across risk management including targeting, credit risk modeling and line assignment. She also holds seven patents in credit risk modeling. Prior to joining American Express, she was an economist for a private equity fund. Anjali is originally from India and holds a Master’s degree in Economics from Delhi School of Economics.
